Psychic deprivation and subdeprivation of children as an educational challenge

The goal of this thesis is to understand the experience of those educators who had the opportunity to interact with deprived children with the help of narrative research. Specifically, the thesis is focused on people providing foster care. The theoretical part of the thesis presents basic psychological constructs that help shed light on the issue of deprivation syndrome. The thesis uses qualitative tools in the practical part to research the mentioned phenomenon.

Art Expression of Psychic Deprived Children of Preschool Age

The Bachelor Work concerns about an art expression of deprived preschool children. In the theoretical part there is the main stress put on the development of drawing in the preschool age, on the problems of the psychic deprivation and possibilities of the arttherapy with the given children. The practical part contains an analyse of free drawings of mentally deprived children in contrast with drawings of children comming from functional families. It was valuated the arrangement, the subject of drawings, the colour scheme and the elaboration of a space. At the close there are presented several casuistics with the drawings of deprived children. The realized conclusions are compared with the knowledge of the specialized literature.

Specificity of education for children from a children's home

1 ABSTRACT The diploma thesis, "Specifics of education of children from a children's home" has a theoretical and empirical character and it is focused on the education of primary school pupils who are placed in a children's home. The first, theoretical part, gathers expert knowledge related to the social and legal protection of children and selected cases where the rights of the child are not respected. It describes institutions operating in institutional and protective education, which are under control of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic. It captures the negative effects of institutional education on the child. In the context of inclusive education, it characterizes a pupil from an orphanage as an endangered child with special educational needs. The purpose of the theoretical part was to describe, on the basis of professional literature, the most common obstacles that a pupil from a children's home encounters (or may face) during education and what are their causes. Outline the life situation of a pupil from an orphanage. The second, empirical part, contains the results of a qualitative survey, the aim of which was to map the supporting network of cooperating actors involved in the education of children from a particular children's home in order to find out who is involved...

Subdeprivation and its consequences for a school development of the child

This work will focus on the topic of influence of subdeprivation on the school development of a child. Subdeprivation is a serious problem for today's society and often has far-reaching consequences for development of a child. In my work I will try to describe the issue of subdeprivation and I will try to express its forms. The theoretical part will be based on the research of prof. Matějček who dealt with this matter. Two groups of children will be examined in the practical part - an experimental group composed of children from children's home and a control group that will be composed, for example, of the same age. These groups will be monitored for socialization, health and school results. These observations will be processed, evaluated and their results will be documented with tables in the practical part.

Reasons for placing children into children's homes from their parents point of view

This thesis puts a goal to find out opinions of parents of children placed into institutional care. We are interested in reasons for withdrawal of children from their care and for placement of children to institutional care or into foster care. In the introduction of the theoretical part there is mentioned history of care for orphaned or deferred children and history of development of theory of attachment. In the next part there is paid attention to developmental psychology with respect to emotions and factors shaping physical and especially psychical child's development. The theory of attachment and psychic deprivation is closely related with this issue and they are described in the next parts of this thesis. With respect to chosen issue the next part discusses the essential statutory regulations, especially Act No. 359/ 1999 Coll. as amended about activity of the authority child protection, then Act No. 109/2002 Coll. as amended about the performance of institutional education or protection education and other related acts. Importance of art therapy for children at Klokánek

Presented thesis is divided into theoretical and empirical part. Because of theme of this thesis the first part of theoretical part is concentrated on the importance of the family for child´s psychic developement. In this part is characterised also a problematic of children and adolescents who grow up in a foster care. As the practical part of the thesis mention children in institution type Klokánek, which is mostly for children at risk of maltreatment, in theoretical part is described a problematic of syndrom CAN and psychic deprivation. In last part of theoretical part is described the symptomes of syndrom CAN and psychic deprivation in an art production of children. This section devote to art therapy with children who have experienced trauma, and describe also some art therapy methods for working with this group of children. The theoretical part is concluded by describing the so-called "Rožnov interpretative art therapy" which on the author of presented thesis based her art therapeutic work in Klokánek. In the empirical part of thesis the author descrieb her art therapeutic work with children in Klokánek. Paintings of children are evaluated according to "Rožnov" approach in art therapy, and also the proposed Cognet assessment form how evaluate child´s art work is used. Due to results the author of this thesis evaluate the art therapy very important as a supporting type of therapy in Klokánek and beneficial as complementary tool for psycho-diagnostics.

The care of endangered children and children living autside of the innate family

This diploma thesis is focused on psychosocial issues related to vulnerable and lonely children, especially with regard to the threat of emotional deprivation. Theoretical part provides definitions of key terms, such as child needs, upbringing, family and its background, psychological deprivation and its consequences; substitute family care, socialization, etc. The aim of theoretical part is to outline development and education of children in out-of-home care facilities in comparison with the care of child in its own family environment. These differences have been analyzed in the research part of the work. The main goal was to contact several involved experts and learn their approaches and opinions regarding the vulnerable children situation in the Czech Republic, which has been facing these issues. Semistructured interview conducted by me with the above experts was focused mostly on asking questions regarding existing {\clqq}imperfections`` in the Family Code and Act on social & legal protection of children, as amended, to highlight the indicators which have negative impacts on successful psychosocial development of children. To provide better picture of the researched issue, the work is complemented by the casuistics of a family with adopted child.

Chosen Charactreristics of Children from Children´s Homes

This final year thesis focuses on problems of children growing up in children´s homes. In the theoretical part it deals with definition of the term children´s home and children´s home with school, reasons for placing child in children´s home, purpose and function of family and children´s home. The thesis characterizes family background a child came from to children´s home, it describes deprivation syndrome and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. A part of the thesis addresses Romany children growing up in children´s home and the relation between childhood spent in children´s home and crime committed in adulthood. The last chapter refers to some difficulties of young people leaving institutional upbringing. The practical part contains comparison of composition of children from three chosen institutions (two state and one non-state) Children´s Home with School Horní Planá, Children´s Home Aš and Private Children´s Home Koryto. They are compared especially in spheres described in the theoretical part. Concurrently I obtained basic information about particular children´s homes from senior executive. Also I monitored carers opinions of institutional upbringing and of children´s state of preparation for independent life after leaving children´s home and their attitudes to upbringing children.

Institutional Education as an Element of Spending Leisure Time

This diploma dissertation is dealing with spending of leisure time in connection with institutional education and the results, which that education brings, when the main view is set on forming of subjecťs relations to his leisure time in connection of family and system for achievement of institutional or protective education. Dilatelly is treated about family as a natural background of education, which can significantly qualify the relation between the individual and his leisure time. At the end are mentioned problems, which are young people dealing with after leaving the institute, and which are caused in their spending of leisure time.

Teacher´s knowledge about children in foster care

This diploma paper is devoted to the problem of children in surrogate families from the teachers´ point of view. Upbringing of a child in a surrogate family ( adoptive or foster) has its own specifies and cause a numer of problems, which result from the possible deprivation of a child over the years of his early development. Education and preparation for chool have thein own specifice as well. That is why teachers schould have sufficient knowledge in this spere. In the theoretic part of my work I focus on the characteristics of surrogate family care, on the problem of psychic deprivation and subdeprivation, thein reasons, demonstration and diagnostics. This work is also devoted to the probleme of the education of mentally deprivated children. The survey was carried out by the help of focus groups. The aim of the survey was to find out the level of teachers´awareness of surrogate family care, thein positions, opinions, expectations, experience and understanding the questions of psychic deprivation and subdeprivation. We carried out the survey in two groups: teachers with work experience and future teachers (students). The next part of the work contains the casuistry of two foster families aimed at effective cooperation between family and school. The obtained results could be a starting point for another research and a source of topics for possible suplement to the education program of padagogical studies.
